Ayuntamiento de Getafe is an innovative, inclusive, modern city located to the south of Madrid. Getafe combines the most modern equipments and services in the world with the traditional roots of the city which, in its day, was the natural road to Toledo. Getafe has a population of 170.000 inhabitants; the population is distributed in equally in the different districts. The Getafe.s city council in the past few years has started an ambitious programme of modernization and streamlining of the administration based on the possibilities offered by the adoption of new technologies. The first step to this technological modernization was the adoption of ICT for the development of administrative tasks for all corporations. Simultaneously the council has initiated a process of opening up decision making to the citizens by providing the means of communication and participation to collective decisions.
