ISMB is an applied research institution which was founded in Torino (Italy) in 2000 by Compagnia di San Paolo, a major bank foundation and Politecnico di Torino, a leading public technical university. ISMB employs around 100 researchers and collaborates with both industrial and academic partners inside and outside the EU. ISMB focuses on ICT applied research with an emphasis on wireless communications and it is organized in nine research units, or Labs, each covering different aspects or types of communication systems. The TRM/Pervasive Technologies Lab is the unit focusing on short-range wireless communication networks and systems, and their related technologies. The TRM/Pervasive technologies lab has vertical competences in topics related to Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs), WSNs and other low-power, distributed sensing and communicating systems. The competences of the laboratory include SW/FW design and development, networking technologies, radio localization and security. Today, ISMB is part of the LINKS Foundation.
